Innovations in Optics seeks Director of Manufacturing Operations to direct product development and manufacturing. Innovations in Optics, Inc. seeks an experienced Director of Manufacturing Operations to plan, direct and coordinate the organization’s product development and manufacturing activities as we continue to scale the business for growth. The ideal candidate must be an exceptional individual to lead our engineering team and production/operations staff to architect a scalable and reliable organization for both daily efficiency and future growth. Critical missions of the position will include the installation and commission of specialty support systems (ERP/MRP) and equipment, and the expansion and organization of facility infrastructure.


• Contribute towards the achievement of company’s strategic and operational objectives. Work as a member of the Management Team to suggest and implement improvements. • Lead Master Production Scheduling process and work with peers to ensure successful on-time delivery of customer commitments. Manage the creation of daily/weekly production schedules and forecasts. • Lead the implementation and maintenance of an ERP/MRP system and the integration of efforts within operations, quality, and engineering

• Implement new manufacturing processes, product and systems technology to meet objectives. Provide guidance to the development of a manufacturing process plan, including personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, facility needs, and required equipment.

• Assess and develop capacity requirements based on business forecasts and current operational constraints. Recommend hiring plans and capital acquisitions to accomplish capacity expansion. • Ensure inventory accuracy.

• Work with Engineering to ensure that proper revision control procedures are being followed to ensure drawings, bills of materials and other required documentation are current.

• Oversee a quality program. Insure all products shipped are recorded, complete and meet requirements. Assess day-to-day quality issues (e.g. Return Merchandise Authorizations, incoming inspection) to determine root causes and implement sustainable corrective actions.

• Design, develop and validate manufacturing assembly and test processes. Work with engineering to develop and implement tools and fixtures to streamline processes. Implement changes to improve quality, improve performance, reduce costs or find alternative solutions.

• Establish procedures to monitor labor costs by operation, yields, and other manufacturing metrics. • Investigate feasibility of new products and product improvements. Communicate and offer suggestions to challenges related to new products. Work closely with Engineering to commercialize and transfer new products to the production environment.

• Manage product engineering through all phases: development, launch, production, and termination.


• Minimum of a BS degree in Operations, Manufacturing, or Engineering

• Minimum 10+ years of experience in manufacturing management, ideally involving the manufacturing of optical, opto-mechanical, electro-mechanical and/or electro-optical systems.

• Experience ERP/MRP systems implementation and management. • Experience in lean manufacturing techniques.

• Experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM).

• Excellent leadership and organizational skills.

• Excellent interpersonal communication and change management skills, a communicator who is transparent, open and honest and a team builder.

• Ability to identify and fix bottle necks, find root cause of issues and implement corrective actions; teaching and training along the way.
